What is Keyword Count?
Keyword count is simply how many times a specific word or phrase — your target keyword — appears in a piece of text. Unlike a plain word counter, which tells you the total number of words, a keyword counter tells you how often the exact term you're trying to rank for actually shows up, including multi-word phrases like "UPI ID" or "keyword density checker."

- Keyword density — keyword count divided by total word count, as a percentage. It's density, not raw count, that search engines and SEO tools actually judge.
What is Good Keyword Density?
Most SEO practitioners target 0.5–2.5% density for a primary keyword — frequent enough for search engines and readers to know what the page is about, without reading as forced repetition. Above roughly 3%, a keyword starts to look stuffed, which can hurt rather than help rankings and reads awkwardly to real readers.
